Chapters include: Forward; Introduction; 1) Cultural Modulations in Afro-Peruvian Musical History; 2) Peruvian Folk Harp Traditions: Determinants of Style; 3) Musical and Cultural Pluralism in the Panpipe Traditions of the Peruvian Altiplano; 4) Musical Syncretism in the Patronal Folk Festivals of the Northern and Central Peruvian Highlands; 5) The Evolution of Two Charango Traditions in Southern Peru as a Product of Socio-economic Change; 6) Modernization in the Mountain Music of Peru; and 7) Conclusion.

A Musical Classification of Native South Americans. Completed book MS. Several versions of the MS exist, all based on my field research conducted in South America between 1971-74, and secondary sources by earlier and contemporary scholars. Alternative titles include (1984) Native South American Ethnic Identification: A Musico-linguistic Model; (1985) A Musical Classification of Native South American Shamanistic Curing Songs; (1986) Shamanistic Music as a Determinant of Ethnic Identification: An Application to Some Northern South American Indian Cultures; and (1986) The Musical Classification of Native South American Shamanistic Curing Songs.
